Ithra” Camp in Sulaymaniyah, a youth camp to develop policy-making skills”

Within the work of the Ufuq Organization on the sixteenth and eleventh goals of the Sustainable Development Goals, and in partnership with the German Parliaments Organization and the German Agency for International Cooperation GIZ, our organization, in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports – the National Center for Voluntary Work, established: “Ithra Camp for Volunteering and Dialogue” in the city of Sulaymaniyah.

For five days, October 21-26, 2023, the camp, in which 65 young men and women participated, from several Iraqi governorates, focused on youth participation in making their policies. In cooperation with relevant institutional bodies, developing their capabilities for volunteer work and creating mechanisms for dialogue and participation.

The camp focused on training male and female participants on the foundations of constructive dialogue and effectively participating in government policy-making. The camp also included recreational and participatory activities in which we focused on the importance of the role of youth in policy-making and the importance of including their vision for the future in government plans, and translating these visions into policies that address the most important problems that youth see as a development priority.
