Coordination meetings with the Minister of Youth and the Minister of Labor, as part of our work on the right to decent work for young people

Ufuq Organization paid an official visit to the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, to discuss the current situation of Iraqi youth and ways to improve it. This visit comes as part of our organization’s efforts to develop sustainable strategies to improve the conditions of youth, based on the international commitments made by the United Nations to support and empower youth to participate in decision-making and contribute to sustainable development.
Several youth-related topics were discussed, including education, employment, vocational training, technology, and innovation. Mr. Ali Bakht emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between the ministry and the Ufuq organization and work together to achieve common goals and improve the conditions of youth, empowering them with the tools that enable them to participate in shaping their future.

Mr. Ali Bakht, representing Ufuq Organization, also met with the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Asadi. During the meeting, Mr. Bakht discussed with the minister the ministry’s efforts in developing the capabilities of youth and supporting initiatives related to youth employment. He presented Ufuq’s vision to the minister regarding the unification of efforts to provide decent employment opportunities for youth on the one hand and the development of their skills and diversification of their options on the other hand.

We at Ufuq believe that the issue of providing decent employment opportunities goes beyond being a constitutional obligation, but rather an urgent solution to many complex issues that cannot be addressed without first addressing this matter. Other serious problems such as armed conflicts, sustainable peacebuilding, development, drugs, and many other topics are intertwined with this issue.

Our work comes within our belief that youths are the substance and makers of the future, based on Article 29 of the Iraqi Constitution, which stipulates that caring for the young and providing appropriate conditions for the development of their abilities is an obligation for state institutions to achieve. Our efforts come within our vision aimed at achieving the maximum benefit from the wasted resources on this subject due to uncoordinated effort. Particularly in pursuit of the eighth goal of sustainable development, through coordination among all relevant parties in this field and reaching a shared vision with a high level of coordination and flexibility. We emphasize that the main goal of our work is to reach the best possible measures, policies, and plans to provide decent employment opportunities for youth and prepare them for these opportunities.
