Dialogue forum for the promotion of citizenship

On December 4th-6th, 2022, the dialogue conference organized by the Capni Organization in partnership with the Ufuq Organization for Human Development and the World Council of Churches came to a close. The conference focused on the concept of citizenship through legislation, curricula, and media. During the conference, various outputs and recommendations were identified as a roadmap for future action.

Mr. Ali Bakht Al-Tamimi, the chairman of the Ufuq Organization for Human Development, presented working papers on the subjects of curricula, legislation, and local laws related to mechanisms for protecting diversity and promoting citizenship in Iraq. He also provided a review of the progress made over the past year, including the incorporation of new topics into curricula and the development of a teacher’s guide for citizenship and human rights, which was created as part of a program in cooperation with the Capni Organization and the World Council of Churches.

As part of the conference, a participating delegation visited His Holiness Patriarch Mar Awa III, the Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, to discuss the outcomes of the dialogue forum and express their support for efforts to strengthen the bonds of love and brotherhood between all religions and ethnicities.
