A dialogue on confronting hate speech, discrimination, and marginalization

On behalf of Ufuq, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Ali Bakht, attended the dialogue work on confronting hate speech and discrimination, and the dialogue was moderated by the United Nations The special advisor on the Prevention of Genocide, Alice Wairimu Nderitu, and Daniel Bell, Head of the Human Rights Office at the United Nations Mission.
The attendees discussed with the Special advisor the issues of Iraq related to genocide, and we also raised the problem of defining genocide within Iraqi legislation, and that the absence of legislation describing the act, gives room for similar practices in the future. Also, during the session, ways of activating the 1948 Genocide Convention were discussed, knowing that Iraq is a party to it.
The event brought together 19 representatives from all social components, community organizations, the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights, the Iraq Bar Association, and the Media and Communications Commission.
