Ufuq is looking into transitional justice in Iraq

Ufuq organization, in cooperation with the German Friedrich-Ebert Foundation, carried out a series of dialogue sessions and discussions electronically (webinar) and in person, at the level of all governorates of Iraq. The attendees discussed the topic (transitional justice), its concept, and its mechanisms in Iraq. The issue was addressed from a legal, cultural, social, and political point of view.

The research process on the topic of transitional justice also included a meeting with officials, meetings with stakeholders, and beneficiaries of its laws. In addition to verification sessions and specific questionnaires, with the aim of reaching a specialized review, at the conceptual, political, and social level, of the issue of transitional justice in Iraq.

In the next phase, all the results of the joint work will be included in a comprehensive study surrounding this topic and issued in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation, and it will include the results of the questionnaires and the opinions of specialists, Iraqis, and Arabs. As well as all the strengths, and problems that we see in transitional justice in Iraq, from the institutional, legislative and institutional standpoint.
